The faculty and staff of Midtown Education Center would like to wish Mr. Michael Neal good luck and best wishes as he retires as our Special Education teacher. Mr. Neal served as Special Education Coordinator at MEC from 2005 to 2008, and returned to MEC to fill the same position from 2023-2026.
Besides serving as Special Education Coordinator, he also coached Golf at Roane County High since 1997. Over his career Coach Neal has led his teams to District Golf Championships from 1997-2000,
2002-2004, 2006-2008, 2019-2025.
His teams won in the Region Golf Championships from 1997-2000, 2002, 2020-2025.
The RCHS team, under his leadership, were State Runners up in 1998, 2019, and 2020. They were the State Champions in 1999 and 2000, and 2021-2023.
We congratulate Coach Neal on his success, and we wish him many more accolades as he continues to coach the RCHS golf team after his retirement.

Mrs. Welch decorated the Achieve Table this month with a "March Mathness" theme.

The science department decorated our achieve table for February with the theme "Fall in Love with Science." Scientific models and publications are displayed. There is also a "Guess How Many Kisses" competition students and staff may take part in by guessing the number of Hershey Kisses are in a container.

Several of our teachers spread some holiday cheer this week with Christmas attire. Check out Mr. Davis and Mrs. Welch in their "Mooy" Christmas sweaters and Mrs. Ann and Mrs. Welch in "Classy Christmas" dresses.


Mrs. Welch's Algebra and Geometry classes built "gingerbread houses" using 3D figures found in the classroom. They practiced using nets, drawing blueprints, finding surface area, and using proportionate ratios and scales.



School Hours are 8:30 am - 3:00 pm daily. Please remember that doors open at 7:45 am and will be locked at 8:30 am. Dismissal time is 3:00 pm daily - please ensure that your child has transportation arrangements in place. Notify the school office if plans change - NO student will be allowed to walk from school.
